A rabbi has recounted the occasion when a man tried to barge into his Manchester synagogue during a deadly incident, saying "I witnessed malevolence, I saw hatred".

The cleric explained that he and others secured the entrances of the temple as Jihad Al-Shamie was "forcing the doors, throwing large plant pots, attempting everything he could to gain entry".
